We’ve finally managed to put together a proper Newsletter.

Not bad going, after nearly five years… Oh well, better late than never, as the saying goes, and honestly it’s a much better Newsletter these days than it would have been back then anyway. (This version here is for people who can't view it properly in e-mail form.)

Knicker Kittens to World Cup of burlesque in Sin City

For the third year running the Kittens have been selected to compete in the 20th Annual Burlesque Hall of Fame Miss Exotic World Pageant (yup, it’s a mouthful!) at the Plaza Hotel Showroom in historic downtown Las Vegas. This year the Kittens are bringing their brand new Gatitos Calientes! routine, which is a cheesy 1940’s latin number with fancy turquoise, green, gold, blue and peacock costumes by lovely seamstress Lisa Jacobsson. Last year they came home with the ”Most Classic” trophy, and this year…? Keep your fingers crossed Saturday June 5th for a Swedish gold medal in the olympics of burlesque!

1st Annual International Stockholm Burlesque Festival

This October the Knicker Kittens bring you the first annual SBF – a glamorous four day event at Berns Salonger in Stockholm, and really there’s no better place for it than the gold and velvet decorated entertainment palace hailing from the 1860s. Anyone can apply to perform at the festival. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get together with the rest of the Swedish scene as well as getting friends from other countries. And if you’re not a performer you’ll enjoy a Halloween weekend with abundant shows, burlesque workshops, breast cancer research benefit tassel twirling championship, great music, tasty cocktails and a bevy of classy performers. No tricks, but a lot of glamorous treats!

Knicker Kittens liven up new Rolling Stones video

Kittens Georgette Gorgeous and Duchess Dubois are shaking their moneymakers in new Rolling Stones video ”Plundered My Soul”. The track is the first release off the re-release of monumental classic Exile on Mainstreet, and one of the previously unreleased revamped 1972 tracks. Video director Jonas Odell at Filmtecknarna strived for a look that brought the old Exile on Mainstreet sideshow inspired album cover to life, and Georgette as a classic fan dancer, and Duchess as a panel skirt dancer, were styled in 1930s hair and make-up. Admittedly, the frames are pretty dang small, but who cares? It’s a Rolling Stones video!

Three newbies join the litter

After all the babymaking that’s been going around like a plague we’ve now recruited backup in the non-pregnant form of Hannah the Heartbreaker, Yvette Les Fesses and Donna Delight. We threw a very successful audition April 19, and had such a hard time deciding between all the talented women who showed up. But Donna is really like the youngest girl we’ve ever met and since we’re all dirty old men deep down inside we were defenseless to her charms. Yvette handles her ass much like a deadly weapon, and again, we had very little to say about the matter when she fliped her hips all the way into the troupe. Hannah has of course been part of the show before, and we’d been strong-arming her for what feels like years to get her to join, so apparently now was the time. Everybody happy!

Fun times in Ljusne

On Sunday May 23 Duchess and Miss Diamond packed their trunks for a one day trip up north to Ljusne, where they charmed the locals by teaching Burleskakademien’s Burlesque Teaser workshop at Dinali Center. Being religious about burlesque, as the Kittens are, nothing beats getting invited to another place to spread the gospel. Burlesque for everybody! Amen!
